Our 5 favourite date ideas

Beach date idea

If you’ve been following us on Instagram or TikTok, you might know that we think it’s important to have a lot of date nights. Coming up with new date ideas can be challenging though. Here are our five favourite date ideas, and we think you will like them too. We even keep a jar of dates. Every week we draw one and have one week to complete it, no matter where we are.

  • Spa night

This date idea is something we almost do weekly. It’s so easy, great on rainy or moody days and it’s always fun and relaxing. We run a bath, throw in a bath bomb to make it more fancy, pour a glass of wine, have face masks… The more we pamper ourselves the better.

  • Sunset at the beach

Our absolute favourite summer date. Watching the sunset at the beach is very romantic. We sometimes take some blankets and pillows with us to make it even more cozy.

  • Picnic with a view

Food and a good view, what more could you wish for? With this combo, a date night can never go wrong. When the weather is bad, our favourite version is a picnic in the car at a beautiful spot. At home, we once made a cosy setup in the garden with cheese, wine and picked flowers.

  • Movie night

A classic date night, but still one of our favourites. We love to go all the way, by making snacks and drinks and even building a fort. Another night in: we make our own pizzas.

  • Candlelight dinner

We only discovered this date idea recently and loved it sooo much! It’s an easy way to make an evening super romantic. Just light up some candles and put them on and around your table, and that’s it! At home we made a salmon and mushroom risotto to go with it.

Making date nights easy

The trick for us is keeping the bar low. A date does not need a reservation or a big budget, and most of the ideas above cost little more than a few candles, some snacks or a blanket. Writing ideas on slips of paper and drawing one each week takes the planning out of it, which is exactly why it works when life gets busy.

Many of these also work on the road. A sunset on a quiet beach or a picnic at a viewpoint fits into almost any trip, and you will find more spots in our list of the best sunset spots we have found. For ideas around special days, see how we celebrate anniversaries, Valentine’s Day and birthdays.

There are plenty of ways to spend time with the person you love, and these five are just the start. Whatever you choose, the main thing is to enjoy each other’s company and make some good memories together!
